Village life
“Coliving (koʊ.lɪv.ɪŋ) is a living arrangement where people share the common spaces and keep private bedrooms, built around community and shared resources. Also known as: the adult version of the best summer camp you never went to.”

Indoors or outdoors, there's space for everyone. It's a bit like living in one big garden with neighbors from all over the world. That's most of what makes the place work.

And when you need to escape the community for a 'very important call' (we all know what that means), your cabin has everything you need. Complete privacy. No judgment.

Everything you need for community living (minus the commune vibes):

  • Shared kitchen (where burnt toast becomes an international incident)
  • Community room (for deep conversations and shallow Netflix debates)
  • Places for events and seminars (yes, we host actual adults doing adult things)
  • Community garden (the best salad is the one you pretended to help grow)
  • Coworking space (included, because we like you)
  • And much more... (the 'more' involves cows, we won't spoil it)

The Good Stuff

BBQ

BBQ Central

Fire up friendships (and steaks). Our BBQ brings people together faster than WiFi outages.

Garden

Shared Kitchen & Garden

Where recipes cross borders and tomatoes grow with international encouragement.

Community

Meet Your People

Less networking, more actual-working-together. And the occasional cow photobomb.

A clay plate piled with ripe heirloom tomatoes from the garden, on El Molino's bar

Dinner, solved

You will not cook every night. We planned for that.

El Molino is our own restaurant, two minutes' walk away in the village and a different building from the Molino rooms. It's the reason nobody here spends a month negotiating with one small village supermarket.

Seasonal Castilian cooking over a wood fire, vegetables from a garden a few metres from the kitchen, and the rest from the people who work this land: the herder up on the sierra, the mill that presses our oil, the baker from the next village.

Lunch Tuesday to Sunday, dinner Wednesday to Saturday. Mains start at €16, and the rice dishes are €13–15 a head, need two people and a bit of notice. Which is a fair description of most good evenings here.

Your cabin still has its kitchenette, and the shared kitchen is still where the burnt-toast incidents happen. Meals aren't included in the nightly rate. This is just the other option, and it's two minutes away.

Who it's for

If you can work or create from anywhere, you can do it here, with company when you want it and a private cabin when you don't.

Digital nomads

On Spain's digital nomad visa or just moving through. Stay a week, a month or a whole season.

Remote workers & couples

Private cabins with your own bathroom and kitchenette, and free coworking for the days that need a desk.

Writers & creatives

Long quiet mornings, big skies and zero excuses left for that side project.

Small teams

Book a cluster of cabins for a rural offsite that doubles as a holiday.

The community-curious

Always wondered what coliving is actually like? Come and find out. Commune vibes not included.

Life in the Sierra de San Vicente

Hamlet's Friends sits in Nuño Gómez, a granite village in the province of Toledo where the plains of Castilla-La Mancha begin to fold up into the Sierra de San Vicente. This is dehesa country: open woodland of holm and cork oak grazed by cattle, with the higher peaks of the sierra rising to the north (the range tops out around 1,370 m at Cerro de las Cruces). It's quiet in the way cities forget is possible. Birdsong, the odd cowbell, and a night sky thick with stars. For a rural coliving in Spain, the place itself does most of the work.

And yet you're not cut off. We're about an hour from Madrid, roughly 110 km. Talavera de la Reina, the nearest town, is thirty minutes away for a supermarket run, a train station or a proper night out. Most guests arrive by car down the A-5 motorway. If you're coming without one, take a train or bus to Talavera and we'll help you sort the last short stretch.

Days here keep a rhythm the city tends to flatten. Mornings are for deep work with the windows open; afternoons might mean a walk into the oak woods, a swim, or a drive to one of the granite villages scattered across the sierra. Weekends stretch to Toledo, to Talavera's famous ceramics, or to the hiking trails up toward the high peaks. There's always something going on, and never any pressure to do it.

The Sierra de San Vicente is one of the comarcas of the province of Toledo, and its villages, castles and walking routes are documented by the Diputación de Toledo.

The practical stuff

The romance of the countryside is real, but so are deadlines. Here's what you actually need to know before you pack the laptop.

Internet that holds

Two independent 600 Mbps fibre lines feed the coworking space and the cabins. If your work depends on the connection, ask us before you book how the two lines back each other up.

One hour from Madrid

About an hour and 110 km from the capital down the A-5. Talavera de la Reina is the nearest town for trains, shops and the airport run.

Stay a week or a season

You book cabins and Molino rooms at Hamlet's Friends by the night, for a focused week, a slow month, or the full length of a digital nomad visa. Tell us your dates and we'll check what's free.

Simple, seasonal pricing

Nightly rates at Hamlet's Friends depend on the season and the room, and they come down the longer you stay: a lower rate from 7 nights, lower again from 30. Live prices and availability are on the booking page.

Coliving questions, answered

What does a coliving stay include?
Your room or cabin, full coworking access, the shared kitchen, garden, community room and two BBQ spots. Cleaning, linen and towels are included.
What does it cost per night?
Molino rooms start at €49.50 a night for one guest and private cabins at €71.50 a night for one guest, coworking included. Both come down the longer you stay, and the rate you land on covers every night of the stay. Check live availability for exact rates.
Is there a minimum stay?
People come for a few nights and people come for months. There's no minimum. Staying longer pays, though: the nightly rate drops at seven nights and again at thirty, which is part of why most guests end up here longer than they planned.
What is the difference between a room and a cabin?
The five Molino rooms have a private bathroom and a desk, in the old mill. The five wooden cabins stand out in the grounds and are self-contained, so more privacy and more birdsong. One is a family cabin that sleeps four, from €104.50 a night.
Can I bring my dog?
Well-behaved dogs and cats up to 20 kg are welcome, with a pet surcharge of €15 per cleaning. Tell us when you book so we can confirm it and give any allergy-prone guests a heads-up.
How far is it from Madrid?
110 km, about an hour down the A-5 from central Madrid or Barajas airport. Talavera de la Reina is 30 minutes away for trains, shops and errands.
Where do people eat?
Three options, and most people use all three. El Molino, our own restaurant, is two minutes' walk away in the village. Lunch Tuesday to Sunday, dinner Wednesday to Saturday, mains from €16. The shared kitchen is where the communal cooking happens, and every cabin has its own kitchenette for the days you'd rather not speak to anyone before noon. Meals aren't included in the nightly rate. The restaurant is à la carte.
Do you offer weekly or monthly rates?
Yes, and they are worth planning around. From 7 nights a Molino room is €43 a night and a cabin from €65; from 30 nights a room is €19.80 and a cabin from €35.75, one guest, and the rate covers every night of the stay. Coworking is included however long you stay, and it runs all year, with no high season that suspends it. Check availability or ask us for the long-stay rate.
