VILLAGE 2.0
Nuño Gómez is a small village in Toledo province, in Castilla-La Mancha, where the plain starts climbing into the Sierra de San Vicente. Small enough that people notice a new face, big enough for a bar and a shop. Our coworking and coliving space is here.
Officially, 171 people are registered in Nuño Gómez, spread across about 17 km². That works out at roughly ten per square kilometre, according to Spain's Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE), 1 January 2024.
The village belongs to the Sierra de San Vicente, one of the comarcas of the province of Toledo, described in detail by the Diputación de Toledo.

Location
Nuño Gómez is about an hour (110 km) from Madrid. Close enough to drive up after work on a Friday, far enough that the loudest thing at night is the dogs. Fields and hills in every direction from the last house.

The Community
The village looks after its own, and after a week or so you're roughly one of them. Villages like this one have been emptying out for a long time. Building Hamlet's Friends here is our small attempt at pushing the other way.
Where the village eats
El Molino is the village's restaurant and the village's bar, and it happens to be ours. Two minutes' walk from the cabins. A wood fire, a garden a few metres from the kitchen, and seasonal Castilian cooking that changes when the fields do. The neighbours eat here. The football argument at the counter has been running for years and nobody is close to settling it. You're a guest of a working village, on the same stools as everyone else.
