El Molino — our restaurant in the village of Nuño Gómez
Our own restaurant, two minutes' walk away in the village: a wood-fired oven, a garden a few metres from the kitchen, and the bar where the village settles its arguments.
Two minutes on foot
A restaurant, a bar, and a very short walk
El Molino is our restaurant in Nuño Gómez, the village Hamlet's Friends lives in. It's two minutes' walk from the rooms and the event space — far enough that dinner feels like going out, close enough that nobody has to be the designated driver.
Worth clearing up straight away: El Molino the restaurant is a different building from our Molino rooms, which are somewhere to sleep. Same name, two front doors, two minutes apart.
It's a village restaurant first. You don't have to be staying with us to eat here, and plenty of people who eat here have never seen the finca. If you are staying with us, it means the evening question already has an answer.

The kitchen
Wood fire, and a garden a few metres away
The carta changes when the fields change. Autumn brings wild mushrooms and the matanza, winter is pulses and things that simmer for hours, and spring starts with the first vegetables out of the garden.
The oven runs on wood. The vegetables come from our own garden, a few metres from the kitchen, which is about as short as a supply chain gets. Everything else comes from people who work this same land: the herder who grazes the flock on the sierra, the traditional mill that presses the oil, the local bodega, the baker from the next village.
See what's on the cartaThree things worth the two-minute walk
The carta is long, seasonal, and lives on El Molino's own site. These three are the ones we'd order.
Chuletón de vaca gallega
Aged 60 days · around 800 g · €55
One piece of beef, two people, no hurry. Order it, then don't schedule anything else for that evening.
On the cartaArroces
€13–15 per person · minimum two · by advance request
Soupy or dry, depending on the day. They're made to order, so ask for one when you reserve rather than when you sit down.
On the cartaWhatever the garden gave
Picked a few metres from the kitchen
Vegetables chosen by what the week actually produced, which is why this one has no fixed name. It's the part of the carta we're proudest of and the part we can promise least about.
On the cartaThe full carta, the wine list and the day's specials all live on El Molino's own site.

What it means if you're staying
The restaurant is open to everyone. It just happens to be very convenient for the people sleeping two minutes away.
Staying a while
A month here is a lot of dinners. Your cabin has a kitchenette and there's a shared kitchen for the ambitious — but on the evenings when nobody feels ambitious, dinner is two minutes away and somebody else does the washing up.
ColivingHere to work
Lunch runs Tuesday to Sunday, and the walk back takes exactly as long as the walk there. A long lunch is a local institution here, not a scheduling failure.
CoworkingBringing a group
For a retreat or an offsite the chef builds a menu around your programme instead of handing you a folder of banquet options. A BBQ in the garden is the alternative when the weather earns it, and vegetarian, vegan and low-stimulant menus are standard rather than a favour — just tell us when you book.
Event location
Coming to eat
El Molino is closed on Mondays. It opens for lunch from Tuesday to Sunday, and for dinner from Wednesday to Saturday. Exact times move with the season, so check them on the restaurant's own site before you set off.
There's no online booking, on purpose. Tables are reserved by phone, WhatsApp or email, and all three are on El Molino's site. If you want one of the arroces, say so then — they're made to order and need at least two people.
Where to find it
Cruz de Hierro 41, 45644 Nuño Gómez, ToledoFrom the rooms and the event space it's a two-minute walk through the village. No car, no parking, no designated driver.
What guests say about Hamlet's Friends
El Molino, briefly
- Can I eat at El Molino if I'm not staying with you?
- Yes. El Molino is the village restaurant and bar, and it's open to everyone — neighbours, day visitors, people passing through. Staying with us gets you a two-minute walk, not a special table.
- Do I need to book a table?
- Yes, and not through us: El Molino takes its own reservations, by phone, WhatsApp or email, on its own site. There's no online booking form. If you want one of the arroces, mention it when you reserve — they're made to order and need at least two people.
- Are meals included in my stay?
- No. El Molino is à la carte and you pay for what you eat. The cabins have kitchenettes and there's a shared kitchen too, so cooking for yourself is a real option rather than a fallback. For groups, retreats and events the chef quotes a custom menu as part of the programme.
- Can you cater for vegetarians, vegans or allergies?
- Yes. Vegetarian, vegan and low-stimulant menus are standard, and the chef designs them rather than taking things off a plate. Tell us when you book your stay, and tell the restaurant when you reserve a table.
- Where exactly is it?
- Cruz de Hierro 41, Nuño Gómez, Toledo — in the village, two minutes' walk from the rooms and the event space. It's a different building from our Molino rooms, which are guest accommodation; the shared name catches people out.
